About Us
Rooted in the Land
This land has been part of Joe’s life since he was a child, learning the rhythms of farming and the importance of caring for what you’re given. Julie grew up just down the bluff along the Mississippi River, spending her early years in a fishing boat, summers skiing and swimming with friends, and even working as a river tour guide in college. Those experiences shaped a deep respect for the land and waterways that surround us, and a lasting appreciation for this special place. After college and many moves away, an opportunity in 2019 brought us back home. What started as a dream, sparked on a date to an alpaca conference, quickly became reality when we welcomed our first three alpacas. Chickens soon followed for eggs, Scottish Highland cattle joined us to help reclaim overgrown pastures, and goats… well, because they’re fun. What began as a hobby steadily grew into something much bigger. In early 2020, we officially started Blufftop Farm, turning a family dream into a way of life: one rooted in raising animals humanely, caring for the land, and creating a place where people can connect with farming, food, and each other.

Our Philosophy
We believe healthy land grows healthy animals, and healthy animals provide nourishing food for our community. That belief guides everything we do at Blufftop Farm. Through regenerative farming practices like rotational grazing, pasture improvement, and building soil health, we work with nature rather than against it. Every decision from how we move cattle across the land to how we care for each animal is made with intention. Our goal is to leave this land better than we found it, while producing food and fiber you can feel good about supporting. Blufftop Farm is about more than what we sell. It’s about stewardship, transparency, and sharing the realities and rewards of farm life.
Raised Together
Blufftop Farm is truly a family endeavor. Our sons, Logan and Liam, are part of daily farm life and have each found their own ways to contribute.
Logan helps with chores and recently started Logan’s Lumber, clearing fallen trees and helping care for our woods. Liam tends his own lavender field, and Liam’s Lavender products can be found in our farm store. Their involvement has helped shape Blufftop Farm into more than a business, it’s a place where responsibility, curiosity, and connection grow alongside the animals and the land.
Sharing farm life with others has always been important to us. After years of preparation and farmers’ markets, where we had the privilege of meeting so many wonderful customers, we opened The Farm Store in the fall of 2025. Bringing people onto the farm and welcoming them into our life here at Blufftop Farm has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.
